The President's Fitness Challenge

If you live in the US that is.. but even if you don't it's a good day to reflect on Freedom, Independence, and all that jazz. What is it you're trying to find your freedom away from by exercising? Some extra weight? A health problem? Just plain old boredom? Whatever it is you're trying to get rid of, today take a moment to think about what that is and what lengths you'll go to to improve your life.

Keep motivated and keep exercising!

intro [Jul. 3rd, 2006|05:46 pm]
The President's Fitness Challenge

Hello everyone, I'm Mark...one month shy of 21. I would consider myself very active year round, thanks to my major (health and phys ed) and my job (intramural sports program). In HS I played football, wrestled, ran mid distance in track and threw discus, swam for about 9 summers competitively, and played a little volleyball. I now also bike quite a deal and am training for a triathlon in September and a half marathon the month after. I joined the advanced challeneg or whatever, this can be a good way to quantify the activity I do every day.

BTW, it said on the site something about joining as a group, perhaps we can set up a group on their, like LJ Prez Challenge or something, any ideas?

Hello everyone...

I'm 32 and live near Washington DC. I spent some time in the army about 10 years ago, but since then have gotten a desk job and put on around 80 lbs... which I'd like to lose.

I've tried a variety of different activities, but none are very exciting or interest me for long. A few months ago, I got into DDR and have stuck with it so far. My wife loves horses and makes me go horseback riding occassionally, but I'm not very good at it yet.

I joined the President's Challenge thing through work. Some contest between my company and another to see who has the most points after 8 weeks. We get a tshirt or something for completing the first stage (6 weeks of activity) during those 8 weeks. I'm on my last week now... then will need some other incentive to do something every day... hopefully this community will provide that. :)

Another introductory post [Jul. 3rd, 2006|09:44 pm]
The President's Fitness Challenge
Hey everyone! I saw the President's Challenge and this community posted in another community and thought I'd give it a go despite the fact I'm British (hope this doesn't bother anyone :p) My name is Kate and I'm 20. I've just started going to the gym and want to improve my fitness and lose weight. As I'm in the summer holidays I have a lot more time on my hands to work out and do stuff! I've put in my first 750 points already.. I love having an extra incentive to go to the gym, despite the fact I quite enjoy it already. We'll see how long that lasts.. ;)

Hullo, my name is Olivia, or just Livi, and I'm 15. I joined the presidential advanced fitness...thingy. I'm already active year round, and this week is my only off time (my coach is out of town, so that's my excuse). I play basketball, volleyball, and run track. And DDR, that so counts. Uh, I'm trying out for varsity basketball this year, and we have two a days coming up, so that'll be fun! 2 hours of conditioning in the morning, and then 3 hours of basketball in the afternoon. Erm. Yeah. I dunno what else to put so...I'll be done now...

The President's Fitness Challenge

Thought I'd start of the introductory posts :P

I'm Emma..20 yearsold...living in Vancouver, Canada.
I'm an ex-competitive swimmer. Training 7 to 10 times a week, each practice being 2 hours in the pool and an hour in the weight room.
I quit when I was 17. I was in the top 3 in the Province for 200m Butterfly & 200m Breaststroke
Played a little bit of water polo but my activitly level decreased extremely when I quit.

Last week, I decided I wanted to get back into swimming and signed up for a membership at the local pool.
So yeah...I'm not sure what else I should put in the introductory post?
